About this course

MEng in Architectural Engineering, a civil engineering degree centred on the integration of architectural thinking with building and infrastructure disciplines. Core topics include Programming, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Project Management, Engineering Design, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Global & Comparative Perspective. The curriculum combines subjects across engineering fields associated with the built environment alongside architectural practice. The first year establishes core foundations through Mathematics and Python Programming, Fundamental Engineering Science: Part 1, Fundamental Engineering Science: Part 2, and Design Project 1: Make and Break. Year two advances technical capability with Soil Mechanics, Structural Analysis and Design, Thermofluids and Heat Transfer, and Design Project 4: Application of Structural Design. Third-year study comprises advanced modules such as Advanced Buildings and Bridges, Building Performance Simulation and Analysis, and Fundamental and Numerical Fluid Mechanics, alongside an independent Investigative Project.
