About this course
MBiolSci in Biological Sciences, a biology degree centred on the scientific study of living organisms, ecological systems, and molecular biosciences. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Project Management, Environmental Analysis, Clinical Skills, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. The curriculum culminates in a major fourth-year research project and provides flexibility to tailor studies toward specific career objectives. The first year covers fundamental concepts through Experimental Skills for Bioscientists, Professional Skills for Bioscientists, Diversity of Life, and Building Blocks of Life, alongside optional modules in areas such as biodiversity, biochemistry, and neuroscience. The second year advances these abilities through Advanced Professional Skills for Bioscientists and specialized experimental modules, with further options spanning evolutionary biology, plant science, and microbiology. The third year incorporates a Capstone Project and advanced study choices ranging from molecular genetics to microbial ecology. The final year focuses on intensive investigation via the Extended Research Project, Advanced Literature Review: Retrieval and Evaluation of Scientific Information, and The Scientific Cycle.
