About this course

BSc in Biomedical Science, a biomedical science degree centred on the study of the human body, health, and disease across molecular, cellular, and whole-body systems. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, and Project Management. Students gain practical experience through laboratory work and apply their learning to key research questions. The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Experimental Skills for Bioscientists, Professional Skills for Bioscientists, Diversity of Life, Building Blocks of Life, and Fundamentals of Physiology and Neuroscience. The second year advances professional capabilities and experimental techniques with compulsory study in Advanced Professional Skills for Bioscientists and Experimental Skills in Cell Biology and Pharmacology, alongside a range of optional modules covering cell biology, anatomy, and neuroscience. The final year centres on an independent Capstone Project, supported by advanced optional modules spanning specialized areas such as human anatomy, neurodegeneration, and medical microbiology.
