About this course
BEng in Civil Engineering BEng, a civil engineering degree centred on infrastructure design and structural mechanics. Core topics include Programming, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Project Management, Engineering Design, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. The curriculum spans three years, beginning with foundational technical principles and progressing to advanced infrastructure management. The first year covers the foundations through Structural Mechanics, Mathematics and Python Programming, Hydraulic Principles and Flow in Pipes, and Strength of Materials and Structures. The second year introduces specialized topics via Mathematics and Parametric Modelling, Soil Mechanics, Structural Analysis and Design, and River Engineering and Flooding. The final year focuses on advanced applications including Advanced Buildings and Bridges, Urban Water Systems, and Geotechnical Engineering. Students also complete an Investigative Project as part of their final-year studies.
