About this course
BA in Economics and Politics and International Relations, a degree centred on the relationship between economic and political aspects of the modern world. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Policy Analysis, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. Students explore how economic theory intersects with political structures and decision-making processes across global systems. The first year covers foundational principles through Microeconomic Analysis and Policy, Macroeconomic Analysis and Policy, Political Analysis 1: An Introduction to Research and Scholarship, and Thinking Politically: Key Concepts. The second year progresses to advanced methods with Statistics and Econometrics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, and Political Analysis 2: How to do empirical research. Optional modules allow specialisation in areas such as development economics, public policy, global politics, and international trade. Later stages also incorporate practical project work including Economic Policy and Practice and Research Project 1.
