About this course
MEng (Hons) in General Engineering, an engineering degree exploring multiple technical disciplines and interdisciplinary applications. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, and Control Systems. Students complete collaborative design projects and an individual investigative project during their studies. The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Mathematics for Engineers, Interdisciplinary Design, Programming for Engineers, and Electrical Engineering. The second year expands technical knowledge with modules including Fluid Mechanics, Design and Mathematics, Thermodynamics and heat transfer, and Mechatronics and Electrical Power, alongside optional study paths. Later stages of the course offer numerous specialism options spanning biomedical engineering, civil infrastructure, electrical systems, and energy engineering, supplemented by practical group design work and independent investigations.
