About this course
BA in Geography and Planning, a planning, property and environmental management and geography degree exploring urban development and spatial planning. Core topics include Research Methods, Fieldwork, Legal Analysis, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Design & Creative Practice. The course combines human geography with planning to examine issues of environmental and social justice. The first year covers the foundations through Development, Planning and the State, Exploring Human Geographies, Cities, People and Urban Design, The Making of Urban Places, Global Challenges, and Environment in Action. The second year introduces Urban Analytics, Urban Theory, Human Geography Research Design and Fieldwork, and Real Estate, Planning and Development. Optional modules allow students to explore topics such as Urban Design and Place-making, Culture, Space and Difference, Sustainable Development and Global Justice, Housing and Home, Social Justice and Environmental Challenges, Urban Culture and Conflict, Cities, Violence and Security, and Territory, Power and Policy.
