About this course
MMath in Mathematics MMath, a mathematics degree centred on advanced research skills, fundamental mathematical knowledge, and complex problem-solving. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students complete a major research project in their final year. The first year establishes core foundations through Introduction to University Mathematics, Geometry, Matrices and Multivariate Calculus, Foundations of Pure Mathematics, and Probability and Data Science. The second year progresses with Core Mathematics I, Core Mathematics II, Statistical Inference and Modelling, and Differential equations. The third year incorporates Mathematical and Physical Sciences Projects and Professional Skills alongside extensive option choices spanning pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and theoretical physics. The final year centres on a 60-credit Research Project alongside advanced optional modules covering specialized topics in mathematics and computation.
