About this course

The MPlan(UG) in Urban Planning is an undergraduate degree in Planning, Property and Environmental Management that explores the evolution, design, and governance of towns and cities. Core topics include Research Methods, Legal Analysis, Policy Analysis, Communication & Writing, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Ethics & Professional Practice. This four-year integrated master's course prepares students to enter planning and related professions. The first year covers foundational concepts through The Making of Urban Places, Development, Planning and the State, Cities, People and Urban Design, and Planning and the Environment. Year 2 introduces applied techniques and governance via Urban Design and Place-making, Urban Analytics, Sustainable Cities, Real Estate, Planning and Development, and Planning, Policy and Governance, with optional choices such as Urban Theory, Territory, Power and Policy, and Social Justice and Environmental Challenges. Year 3 advances into strategic frameworks and applied projects through Shaping Future Cities, Planning Theory, Plan-making and Development, and Planning Law and Development Management.
