About this course

BSc in Zoology, a zoology degree focused on the scientific study of animal biology, evolution, and ecosystems. Core topics include programming, data analysis, statistics, laboratory techniques, research methods, fieldwork, project management, environmental analysis, clinical skills, and critical & analytical thinking. Students build practical skills through laboratory sessions and field investigations while examining animal function and conservation. Year 1 introduces foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Experimental Skills for Bioscientists, Professional Skills for Bioscientists, Diversity of Life, Building Blocks of Life, and Form and Function of Living Organisms, alongside optional choices like Biodiversity, Climate and Conservation. Year 2 advances these themes with compulsory modules including Experimental Skills in Zoology and Ecology, Advanced Professional Skills for Bioscientists, Animal Diversity, and Principles of Animal Behaviour, complemented by optional studies in evolutionary biology and ecology. Year 3 centres on independent research through the compulsory Capstone Project, supported by optional advanced modules covering specialized topics such as evolutionary genetics, conservation management, animal behaviour, and biological field research.
