About this course
MBiolSci in Zoology MBiolSci, a zoology degree centred on the study of animals, biodiversity, and evolutionary biology. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Project Management, Environmental Analysis, Clinical Skills, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. Designed for those pursuing a research career, the course culminates in a major research project in the fourth year. The first year covers the foundations through Experimental Skills for Bioscientists, Professional Skills for Bioscientists, Diversity of Life, Building Blocks of Life, and Form and Function of Living Organisms, alongside optional modules like Biodiversity, Climate and Conservation. The second year builds competence with Experimental Skills in Zoology and Ecology, Advanced Professional Skills for Bioscientists, Animal Diversity, and Principles of Animal Behaviour, complemented by choices such as Evolutionary Biology and Principles of Field Biology. The third year offers advanced study through the Capstone Project and options spanning Evolutionary Genetics and Genomics, Sustainable Agricultural and Urban Ecosystems, and Conservation Issues and Management. The final fourth year is dedicated to intensive research and scholarship through the Extended Research Project, Advanced Literature Review: Retrieval and Evaluation of Scientific Information, and The Scientific Cycle.
