About this course

Integrated Masters degree in Science in Biochemistry, a biochemistry degree focused on the chemical and molecular foundations of biological systems. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. The fourth year features an advanced research project completed alongside academic research teams. The first year covers core fundamentals through Chemistry of Life, Fundamentals of Cell Biology and Physiology, How to Think Like a Scientist, and The Human Genome and Disease. The second year builds upon protein structure and genetic information flow via compulsory modules such as Exploring Proteins: Structure and Function and Flow of Genetic Information, while offering optional studies across subjects like bioinformatics, physiology, and pharmacology. In the third year, compulsory modules examine molecular cell biology, molecular recognition, and disease mechanisms. The final fourth year centres on practical research and technical training through Advanced Research Project, Current Research, and Skills in Structural Biology.
