About this course

Integrated Masters degree in Science in Biomedical Sciences, a biological sciences degree centred on the exploration and understanding of human disease at multiple levels. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, and Research Methods. Students complete two independent research projects during their studies, including an advanced research project in the final year. The first year covers core subjects through Chemistry of Life, Fundamentals of Biochemistry, Fundamentals of Cell Biology and Physiology, How to Think Like a Scientist, and The Human Genome and Disease. The second year continues with Cell Biology, Flow of Genetic Information, Immunology, Infection and Inflammation, and Principles of Pharmacology, alongside optional modules such as Adaptive Physiology, Bioinformatics, and Neuroscience. In the third year, students select from specialized options including Bioinformatics and Systems Biology, Cancer Chromosome Biology, and Molecular Cell Biology, or undertake laboratory and in-silico research projects. The final year comprises compulsory advanced research and current research modules, alongside a broad selection of optional advanced study topics.
