About this course
Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering is an undergraduate degree centred on the application of chemistry and material science to industrial processes within chemical engineering. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, and Engineering Design. Students undertake a group design project in the final year and can complete an optional paid industrial placement year. The first year covers fundamental topics through An Introduction to Engineering Design, Chemical Principles, Data Science and Computing for Engineers, and Mathematics for Engineering and the Environment. The second year progresses to Heat and Mass Transfer, Process Control and Safety, Reaction Engineering, and Unit Operations 1 -Particle Technology. The third year includes Advanced Reaction Engineering (Bio Reactors and Catalysis), Chemical Engineering Group Design Project, Management of Safety in Chemical Plants, and Unit Operations 3 - Separation Processes. Optional modules in the final year allow specialisation in areas such as Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Energy, Chemical Engineering for the Pharmaceutical Sector, and Urban Water and Wastewater Engineering.
