About this course

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, a chemistry degree centred on the study of matter, reactions, and chemical processes. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Laboratory Techniques, and Research Methods. Laboratory work follows environmentally responsible methods used in industry, and students engage in research projects alongside academic staff. The first year covers core theory and practical training through Foundations of Chemistry I, Foundations of Chemistry II, Mathematical and Analytical Methods in Chemistry I, and Practical Chemistry I. The second year progresses to more complex concepts with Advanced Chemistry I, Advanced Chemistry II, and Practical Chemistry II, alongside optional topics such as Chemical Solutions to Environmental Issues, Fundamentals of Biochemistry, and Introduction to Programming. The third year focuses on advanced core subjects including Advanced Practical Skills in Chemistry, Frontiers in Inorganic Chemistry, Frontiers in Organic Chemistry, and Frontiers in Physical Chemistry. Optional modules in the final year allow students to explore areas like Medicinal Chemistry III, Simulation Methods in Chemistry, and Sustainable Chemistry.
