About this course
Master of Chemistry in Chemistry, a chemistry degree centred on core chemical concepts, laboratory practice and advanced research methods. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students complete an extended final-year research project requiring approximately 750 hours of practical work and a dissertation. The first year covers foundational concepts through Foundations of Chemistry I, Foundations of Chemistry II, Mathematical and Analytical Methods in Chemistry I, and Practical Chemistry I. The second year progresses with Advanced Chemistry I, Advanced Chemistry II, and Practical Chemistry II, alongside optional topics such as Chemical Solutions to Environmental Issues and Fundamentals of Biochemistry. The third year builds core knowledge via Advanced Practical Skills in Chemistry, Frontiers in Inorganic Chemistry, Frontiers in Organic Chemistry, and Frontiers in Physical Chemistry, with options including Simulation Methods in Chemistry and Sustainable Chemistry. The fourth year centers on Advanced Research Projects and Industrial Awareness and Skills Development, supplemented by optional modules like AI and Machine Learning in Chemistry and Advanced Chemical Biology.
