About this course
Master of Economics in Economics, an economics degree exploring advanced economic theory and quantitative methods. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Financial Analysis, and Policy Analysis. Students can select from three designated pathways after the first year: Economics, Econometrics, and Behavioural economics. The curriculum includes practical facilities such as a Bloomberg Trading Suite and behavioural economics laboratories, alongside options for a semester abroad or an employment placement year. The first year establishes fundamental knowledge through compulsory modules including Economics with Data, Exploring the Social World, Mathematics for Economics, and Principles of Macroeconomics. The second year advances quantitative and analytical capabilities via Applied Econometrics, Econometric Theory, Econometrics with Big Data, and Games. The third year shifts towards independent research and specialist study through Behavioural Economics, Choice and Decision, Dissertation: Literature Review, and Economics Skills and Employability 3. The final year involves advanced postgraduate training through Advanced Research Project, Applied Microeconometrics, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics. Optional modules across various stages allow students to explore topics such as Corporate Finance, Experimental Economics, Health Policy and Economics, and Industrial Economics.
