About this course
Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, a mechanical engineering degree centred on the principles of mechanical design, systems, and materials. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Control Systems, Data Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, Financial Analysis, Accounting, Engineering Design, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The final year includes a substantial individual research project where students apply accumulated knowledge to topics ranging from system design to materials testing. The first year covers foundational principles through An Introduction to Engineering Design, Data Science and Computing for Engineers, Mechanical Systems Analysis, and Mechanics, Structures and Materials. The second year progresses with Electronics and Control, Fluid Mechanics, Systems Design and Computing, and Thermodynamics. The third year consolidates advanced technical ability through Engineering Design with Management, Finite Element Analysis in Solid Mechanics, Heat Transfer and Applications, and Manufacturing and Materials. Optional modules allow students to explore specialised areas such as Accounting and Finance for Engineers, Applied Matrices for Computation and Machine Learning, Automotive Chassis and Powertrain, Biomaterials, Control and Instrumentation, Failure of Materials and Components, Fundamentals of Acoustics, Human Factors in Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Technology Fundamentals for Sustainable Energy.
