About this course

Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing, a mechanical engineering and robotics engineering degree centred on manufacturing, materials science, and production engineering. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Control Systems, Data Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, Laboratory Techniques, Financial Analysis, Accounting, Engineering Design, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. This four-year integrated master's programme covers mechanical engineering fundamentals before progressing to specialist manufacturing subjects and advanced design methodologies. The first year covers foundational topics through An Introduction to Engineering Design, Data Science and Computing for Engineers, and Mechanics, Structures and Materials. The second year introduces core principles via Electronics and Control, Engineering Management and Law, and Systems Design and Computing. The third year advances into complex applications with Individual Project, Finite Element Analysis in Solid Mechanics, and Manufacturing and Materials, alongside optional study in areas such as Applied Matrices for Computation and Machine Learning and Robotic Systems. The final year focuses on advanced professional practice through Group Design Project, Composites Engineering Design and Mechanics, and Strategic Management, with further specialisation available via optional modules including Introduction to Machine Learning and Sustainable energy systems, resources and usage.
