A level: Minimum BBB or above including Biology and one additional science (with a pass in the practical element where it is separately endorsed). Please note applicants must offer BBB or above, we do not accept grade or tariff equivalents to BBB. IB: Overall score of 30 points with 15 at Higher Level, with 5 in HL Biology and one additional Science
About this course
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in Medicine BM6 Widening Participation, a medicine degree centred on clinical practice and patient care within healthcare environments. Core topics include Statistics, Clinical Skills, Ethics & Professional Practice. This six-year programme begins with an introductory foundation year featuring small-group teaching, followed by integration with standard medical cohorts and extensive clinical placements across hospitals and community care settings. The introductory year builds foundational understanding through Applied Knowledge A, Applied Knowledge B, Clinical Practice and Personal and Professional Development, and Health Improvement. Year 1 advances integrated clinical knowledge and research methods via Applied Knowledge 1, Clinical Practice 1, Personal and Professional Development 1, and Research as Applied to Medicine 1. Year 2 explores specialised systems and humanities through Applied Knowledge 7, Clinical Practice 2, Medical Humanities, and Research as Applied to Medicine 2. Year 3 focuses on hospital specialties through Medicine and Elderly Care, Mental Health, Surgery and Orthopaedics, and Population and Planetary Health. Year 4 covers advanced clinical practice through Acute Care Year 4, Child Health, Psychiatry, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Genitourinary Medicine. The final year prepares students for practice via Assistantship FY, Medicine (Final), Primary Medical Care (Final), and a Student Selected Unit elective project.
