About this course

Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, a midwifery degree focused on maternal care, neonatal health, and professional practice. Core topics include Research Methods, Clinical Skills, Ethics & Professional Practice. Approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the programme allows graduates to register as midwives alongside a Newborn and Infant Physical Examination qualification. During the first year, students study foundational health sciences and universal care through Anatomy and Physiology, Antenatal Midwifery Practice, and Introduction to Professional Practice, alongside practical placement experiences. The second year addresses complex care needs and emergencies with modules such as Antenatal and Intrapartum Additional Care Needs, Obstetric and Neonatal Emergency Care, and Midwifery Elective Experience, supported by continuous clinical placements. The final year prepares students for independent practice through Autonomous Midwifery Practice, Consolidating Midwifery Practice, and Leadership and Innovation in Healthcare, alongside advanced research methods work.
