A level: ABB to BBB including Music and Grade 8 Music Practical or demonstrated equivalent standard* IB: Pass, with 32 to 30 points overall with 16 to 15 points at Higher Level, including 5 at Higher Level in Music and Grade 8 Music Practical or demonstrated equivalent standard*
About this course
Bachelor of Arts in Music with Year Abroad, a music degree centred on historical and contemporary musical practices. Core topics include Research Methods and Design & Creative Practice. This four-year programme includes an integrated year abroad spent studying at an international partner institution. The first year establishes fundamental capabilities through modules such as Common Practice Tonality Fundamentals, Music Production Fundamentals, Music in Context 1, and Performance Fundamentals 1, alongside optional choices like Composition Fundamentals. The second year focuses on preparation for international study and social justice perspectives via Humanities Study Abroad Preparation Module, Music Education and Social Justice, Sounding Equality: A Sustainable Music History, and Year Abroad Report Module for Humanities Students. Optional studies across later stages cover subjects like Film Music Composition, Jazz Theory, and Orchestration and Arranging. Students can undertake advanced independent work through optional modules such as Composition Project or Research Project.
