About this course

Master of Nursing in Nursing (Child and Mental Health), a dual-field nursing degree centred on nursing (child) and nursing (mental health). Core topics include research methods, clinical skills, ethics & professional practice. This four-year integrated master's course leads to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council across two fields of nursing, incorporating clinical practice placements throughout the programme. The first year establishes fundamental knowledge through modules such as Anatomy and Physiology, Fundamentals of health and care across the life course, Introduction to Professional Practice, and Health Assessment and Management of Children and Families. The second year expands into public health and ethics via Epidemiology, global and public health, Health Assessment and Acute Deterioration in Children and Young People, Inclusion Health and Care in Clinical Practice, and Preparing for the Ethical Challenges in Children's Nursing. The third year incorporates leadership and independent investigation through Complex care in children and young people, Leadership and Innovation in Healthcare, and Student Led Project. Optional modules in the third year allow students to explore areas such as Parity of Esteem: Bridging Physical and Emotional Care, Primary Care and Community Children's Nursing, Supporting Young Minds in Mental Health, and Urgent, Unscheduled, and Critical Care in Children's Nursing. The final year concludes with advanced practice and evaluation through modules including Part 3 Placement 1 (MSc), Part 3 Placement 2 (MSc), and Service Improvement Project.
