About this course
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Mental Health) is a nursing (mental health) degree centred on clinical practice and professional healthcare delivery. Core topics include Clinical Skills, Research Methods, and Ethics & Professional Practice. The curriculum incorporates practical placements in community and acute settings alongside specialized mental health training. The first year establishes fundamental knowledge through modules such as Anatomy and Physiology, Fundamentals of health and care across the life course, Integrating Physical Health and Pharmacology in Mental Health Nursing, Introduction to Professional Practice, Part 1 Placement 1, Part 1 Placement 2, Portfolio Part 1 for Mental Health Nursing, and Working in Partnership in Mental Health Nursing. The second year develops broader clinical competencies via Epidemiology, global and public health, Inclusion Health and Care in Clinical Practice, Part 2 Placement 1, Part 2 Placement 2, Psychosocial Interventions in Mental Health Nursing, and Research Methods for Nursing. The final year focuses on advanced practice, leadership, and independent inquiry through Leadership and Innovation in Healthcare, Part 3 Placement 1, Part 3 Placement 2, and Student Led Project. Students also choose from optional modules including Parity of Esteem: Bridging Physical and Emotional Care and Supporting Young Minds in Mental Health.
