About this course

Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Linguistics (1 Language: French, German or Spanish), an undergraduate degree centred on English Language and Linguistics and French and Francophone Studies and German and Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, Human Behaviour, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students spend the third year abroad on a workplace, teaching, or university placement. The first year establishes foundational skills through compulsory modules such as Academic Skills for Modern languages and Linguistics Students, Applications of Linguistics, Elements of Linguistics: Sound, Structure and Meaning, and French Language Stage 4, alongside language options in French, German, or Spanish. The second year focuses on preparation for the period abroad and introduces various optional areas of study. During the third year, students complete a Residence Abroad Portfolio as an independent piece of academic work.
