About this course
Integrated Masters degree in Science in Zoology, a zoology degree centred on the study of animal life from cell biology to ecosystems. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, Fieldwork, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. This four-year program includes extensive field trips to locations in Spain and the UK, laboratory practical work, and an advanced research project. The first year establishes fundamental concepts through modules such as Fundamentals of Biochemistry, Fundamentals of Cell Biology and Physiology, How to Think Like a Scientist, Organisms and their Environment, and Origins of Biodiversity. The second year builds on this foundation with compulsory studies including Animal Behaviour, Behaviour and Ecology Field Course, Quantitative Methods in Biological and Environmental Science, Vertebrate Development, and Vertebrate Zoology, alongside optional choices like Adaptive Physiology and Bioinformatics. In the third year, students select from diverse specialised topics such as Behavioural Ecology, Biodiversity and Conservation, Biomedical Parasitology, and Ecosystem Cycles and Microbial Communities, alongside various independent research project options. The fourth year centers on advanced master's level study supported by Current Research and extensive optional research projects or advanced field investigations.
