BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering
About this course
BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, an electrical and electronic engineering degree focused on power systems, circuit design, and emerging technologies. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, and Engineering Design. Students can choose between two specialist pathways, namely Electrical Engineering and Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, and complete a large-scale final-year project culminating in an exhibition at the GradEX show. During the first year, students build a foundation through compulsory modules such as Engineering Design And Practice, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Professional Development, and Engineering Mathematics 1 (Non A-Level). The second year introduces more specialised concepts through modules including Circuit Design, Modelling And Manufacturing, Control System Analysis, Digital Electronics Principles And Applications, and Embedded Systems: Programming And Applications. In the final year, students undertake advanced study supported by modules such as Advanced Communication Systems, Advanced Digital Electronics, Advanced Power Electronics, and Modern Power Systems. An optional 12-month industry placement year is also available between academic stages.
