BEng Mechanical Engineering
About this course
BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering Board, a mechanical engineering degree centred on the analysis, design, and manufacture of mechanical systems and structures. Core topics include Circuit Design, Control Systems, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Engineering Design, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. Students complete an independent research project in the final year and may undertake a 12-month industry placement. The first year covers core engineering principles through compulsory modules such as Applications Of Electrical And Electronic Engineering 1, Engineering Design And Practice, Engineering Mathematics 1 (Non A-Level), and Engineering Mechanics. The second year progresses to advanced applications with Control System Analysis, Engineering Product Commercialisation, Manufacturing Systems And Quality Management, and Mechanical Design And Structures, alongside a sustainability group project. The final year focuses on advanced technical topics including Applied Computational Fluid Dynamics, Modern Power Plant Technologies, and Structural Analysis And Fea, culminating in a major Engineering Project.
