About this course

MMath (Honours) in Applied Mathematics, a mathematics degree focusing on practical applications and quantitative techniques within the mathematical sciences. Core topics include Statistics, Mathematical Modelling. This five-year integrated Masters programme combines undergraduate and postgraduate study and is accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. The first year builds foundational knowledge through Mathematics. The second year expands into core branches via Abstract Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics and Probability, Linear Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling, Multivariate Calculus, Statistical Inference, and Vector Calculus. Later stages provide opportunities to study optional subjects such as Computational Numerical Analysis, Dynamical Systems, Financial Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Solar Theory, Advanced Analytical Techniques, Advanced Computational Techniques, Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Spatial Models and Pattern Formation in Mathematical Biology, alongside advanced modules at the 3000-, 4000-, and 5000-levels.
