About this course

BSc (Honours) in Chemical Sciences, a chemistry degree exploring the composition and properties of matter, molecular structures, and chemical reactions. The course allows students to include a small component of a non-chemistry subject such as science communication and teaching, psychology, management or economics. The first year covers foundational concepts through Inorganic and Physical Chemistry 1, Introductory Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, and Organic and Biological Chemistry 1. The second year progresses with modules including Inorganic Chemistry 2, Organic Chemistry 2, Organic Chemistry 2 (French), and Physical Chemistry 2. Optional studies later in the course let students explore specialized areas such as Blockbuster Pharmaceuticals, Energy Conversion and Storage, Fragrance, Food and Colour Chemistry, Functional Materials and Electrons in Solids, and Heterocyclic and Pericyclic Chemistry.
