About this course

BSc (Honours) in Environmental Earth Sciences, a geography and earth and environmental sciences degree examining the interactions between oceans, atmosphere, biosphere, and geosphere. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, and Fieldwork. The course includes a final-year research dissertation and holds accreditation from the Institution of Environmental Sciences. The first year covers foundations through Earth's Resource Challenges and Understanding Planet Earth. The second year focuses on low-temperature processes, Earth's behaviour, and interactions with the atmosphere and biosphere through Dynamic Earth: Earth Surface Processes and Dynamic Earth: The Earth System. Unspecified years provide further study across modules such as Geochemistry, GIS and Spatial Analysis for Earth Scientists, Global Climate Change, and Pollution and Aqueous Chemistry. Optional and advanced study paths allow students to focus on areas like coding, modelling, geophysics, and specialized climate science topics. The course concludes with an individual research dissertation enabling detailed investigation into a chosen topic.
