About this course

MA (Honours) in Mathematics, a mathematics and history degree focused on analytical techniques, logical thinking and deductive reasoning. Core topics include Statistics, Mathematical Modelling. Students progress through a four-year full-time structure covering fundamental mathematical principles and advanced theories. The first year introduces foundational mathematical ideas and techniques required for further study. The second year builds competence through compulsory modules such as Abstract Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics and Probability, Linear Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling, Multivariate Calculus, Statistical Inference, and Vector Calculus. Later stages incorporate advanced study options including Bayesian Inference, Classical Mechanics, Fractal Geometry, Groups, Linear and Nonlinear Waves, Real and Abstract Analysis, Sampling Theory, and Solar Theory, alongside higher-level 3000-level, 4000-level, and 5000-level modules in mathematics and statistics.
