Entry requirements
Single honours degrees in Persian are not currently offered at St Andrews. Persian can only be studied as part of a joint programme. To see the qualifications you will need, please refer to the entry requirements for the other subject in your chosen combination.
About this course
MA in Persian, a Russian Studies and Hebrew and Jewish Studies and Classics degree combining language study with literary, dramatic and cinematic traditions. The course is structured over four years full time, featuring an integrated year abroad option between the second and third year when taken with another language. The first year covers foundational language acquisition through Persian for Beginners 1 and Persian for Beginners 2. The second year progresses to Intermediate Persian 1 and Intermediate Persian 2 to expand translation capabilities and grammar. Subsequent study includes unassigned modules such as Introduction to Classical Persian Literature, Key Texts in Modern Persian Literature, Modern Iran through Cinema, and Modernity and Iranian Drama.
