About this course

MMath in Statistics, a mathematics and statistics degree focusing on the collection, analysis and presentation of numerical data. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, and Mathematical Modelling. This five-year integrated master's programme combines undergraduate and postgraduate study into a single qualification. The first year covers foundational mathematics. The second year introduces core concepts through Abstract Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics and Probability, Linear Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling, Multivariate Calculus, Statistical Inference, and Vector Calculus. Later stages include advanced modules such as Classical Statistical Inference, Bayesian Inference, Markov Chains and Processes, Sampling Theory, Advanced Data Analysis, Estimating Animal Abundance and Biodiversity, Medical Statistics, and Multivariate Analysis, alongside 3000-, 4000-, and 5000-level options.
