About this course

BA in Archaeology and Anthropology, a forensic science and anthropology degree focused on the study of humankind from origins to the present day. Core topics include Communication & Writing, Human Behaviour. The curriculum includes 50 days of fieldwork and a detailed study of a selected topic. The first year covers foundations through Introduction to Material and Visual Culture, Sites and Artefacts, World Archaeology: An Outline of the Deep History of Human Societies, and Introduction to Archaeology. The second year examines theoretical perspectives via Theoretical Perspectives in Social Anthropology and Material Culture, Current Issues in Archaeological Theory, and Research and Presentation Skills, alongside optional modules such as Palaeoanthropology and The Anthropology of Kinship and Gender. The final year consolidates learning through compulsory modules including Field Archaeology, Archaeology in the World, and Individual Studies in Anthropology. Optional choices across the course allow specialisation in areas like Human Behavioural Ecology, Evolution and Human Behaviour, and Anthropology of Capitalisms.
