About this course

BASc in Arts and Sciences (Cultures), an UCL Arts and Sciences degree centred on cross-disciplinary study and broad academic inquiry. Core topics include Data Analysis, Research Methods, Design & Creative Practice, and Social & Cultural Analysis. The curriculum includes language study and an internship opportunity, alongside a study abroad variant. The first year covers the foundations through Approaches to Knowledge: Introduction to Interdisciplinarity, Interdisciplinary Research Methods, and Quantitative Methods and Mathematical Thinking. Optional modules in the first year allow students to explore subjects such as Introduction to Material and Visual Culture A, Introduction to Social Anthropology 1 A, and Design and Creative Practice 1. The second year continues with Framing Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Concepts, Contexts, and Enquiry, alongside optional modules like Quantitative Methods 2: Data Science and Visualisation and Qualitative Thinking: Research Methods in Cultural Analysis.
