About this course
BASc in Arts and Sciences (Sciences and Engineering) with Study Abroad, an UCL Arts and Sciences degree centred on interdisciplinary problem solving across sciences and engineering. Core topics include Data Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Design & Creative Practice, and Social & Cultural Analysis. Students spend the third academic year studying or completing a traineeship abroad, and conclude the final year with a consultancy project. The first year introduces interdisciplinary foundations and methodology through compulsory modules such as Approaches to Knowledge: Introduction to Interdisciplinarity, Interdisciplinary Research Methods, Quantitative Methods and Mathematical Thinking, and Mathematical Methods for Arts and Sciences. The second year continues with conceptual enquiry, while optional choices allow study in areas like data science, cultural analysis, and languages. The third year is spent abroad for the BASc Study Abroad Assessment and the BASc Study Abroad Project. The final year focuses on practical consultancy through The Knowledge Economy: Consultancy Project, alongside optional dissertations and further language study.
