About this course

BASc in Arts and Sciences (Societies), an arts and sciences degree centred on multi-disciplinary investigation and problem-solving. Core topics include Data Analysis, Research Methods, Design & Creative Practice, and Social & Cultural Analysis. Students complete a consultancy project in the final year and can undertake an internship. The first year covers core foundations through Approaches to Knowledge: Introduction to Interdisciplinarity, Interdisciplinary Research Methods, and Quantitative Methods and Mathematical Thinking, alongside optional modules such as Documentary Film-Making and Introduction into Politics: Key Concepts and Texts. The second year focuses on advanced enquiry with the compulsory module Framing Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Concepts, Contexts, and Enquiry, plus optional choices like Quantitative Methods 2: Data Science and Visualisation and Qualitative Thinking: Research Methods in Cultural Analysis. The third year centres on professional application through the compulsory module The Knowledge Economy: Consultancy Project, with further independent study options including the BASc Final Year Dissertation and the Creative Practice Dissertation.
