About this course
BSc in Biochemistry, a biochemistry degree focused on the molecular and cellular foundations of living systems. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, and Research Methods. Students can choose to extend their studies to a four-year degree with an industrial placement year. The first year establishes fundamental knowledge through compulsory modules such as Biochemistry 1, Biochemistry 2, Foundations of Life, and Year 1: Foundations of Programming and Data Handling. The second year progresses into specialized study via compulsory modules including Principles of Biomolecular Structure and Function, Molecular Biology, and Practical Skills in Biochemistry, alongside optional topics in areas like cellular regulation and physical chemistry. The final year centers on the Advanced Investigative Project in Molecular Biosciences alongside choices from optional advanced subjects such as Cancer Biology, Computational and Systems Biology, and Mechanisms of Molecular Machines.
