BSc Biological Sciences
Entry requirements
A level: AAA (Biology required plus one from Chemistry, Life and Health Sciences, Mathematics or Physics.) IB: 38 points (A total of 18 points in three higher level subjects including Biology at grade 6 and one from Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, with no higher level score below 5. For Mathematics, the course will accept either ‘Analysis and Approaches’ or ‘Applications and Interpretation’ at higher level.)
About this course
BSc in Biological Sciences, a biology degree exploring the scientific study of living organisms and life processes. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, and Human Behaviour. The curriculum offers specialist pathways including Biodiversity and Conservation, Cell and Developmental Biology, Genetics, Human Genetics, or Zoology. The first year covers core topics through Foundations of Life, Molecular Cell Biology, Organisms, Evolution and Ecology, and Cells to Organisms. The second year expands technical proficiency with Fundamentals of Molecular Biology and Animal Biodiversity, alongside optional modules such as Plant Biology and Infection. Final-year options allow students to focus on specific interests through modules like Biology of Ageing, Vertebrate Life and Evolution, and Computational and Systems Biology.
