About this course

MSci in Cancer Biomedicine, a medicine degree centred on the study of oncology, cellular biology, and clinical treatment methods. Core topics include Statistics and Research Methods. The curriculum spans four academic years and culminates in an extended research project. The first year covers human physiology and cellular processes through compulsory modules such as Foundations in Human Physiology and Cellular Biology, Cardiovascular and Respiratory Function in Health and Disease, and Infection, Inflammation and Repair. The second year examines cancer mechanisms and diagnostics through compulsory study in Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, Clinical Cancer: from epidemiology to diagnosis to treatment, and Pathogens and Cancer, alongside optional choices like Immunology and Pharmacology and Drug Action. The third year focuses on advanced clinical applications and specialized treatments via compulsory modules including Precision Cancer Medicine, Paediatric and Young Adult Cancer: Basic Research and Clinical Applications, and a Structured Cancer Biomedicine Research Project, with optional topics such as Stem Cell Therapies and Nanotechnology in Medicine. The fourth and final year deepens methodological expertise and research capabilities through compulsory study of Advanced Therapies in Cancer Care and an Extended Cancer Biomedicine Research Project.
