BEng Chemical Engineering
Entry requirements
A level: AAA (Mathematics and Chemistry required. Biology, Economics, Geography, Physics and Psychology preferred.) IB: 38 points (A total of 18 points in three higher level subjects to include grades 6,6 in Mathematics and Chemistry, with no higher level score below 5. Another science at higher level preferred, but not essential. The programme will accept either ‘Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches’ or ‘Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation’ at higher level.)
About this course
BEng in Chemical Engineering, a chemical engineering degree centred on industrial processes and technical applications. Core topics include Programming, Mathematical Modelling, and Engineering Design. Students may have the opportunity to undertake a year in industry as part of the course options. The first year covers foundational concepts through Introduction to Chemical Engineering, Transport Phenomena, Thermodynamics, and Computational Modelling and Analysis. The second year progresses to advanced topics via Design and Professional Skills II, Process Heat Transfer, Separation Processes I, and Chemical Reaction Engineering I, alongside optional modules such as Manufacturing Regenerative Medicines: from Lab Bench to Industry and Introduction to Environmental Engineering. The final year focuses on major applications through the Process Plant Design Project, Process Dynamics and Control, Chemical Reaction Engineering II, and Advanced Safety and Loss Prevention, with further specialisation available through options like Connected Systems.
