About this course
MEng in Civil Engineering, a civil engineering degree centred on infrastructural theory and design. Core topics include Programming, Mathematical Modelling, and Engineering Design. The programme spans four academic years and culminates in an integrated design component alongside a substantial civil engineering project. The first year establishes fundamental principles through compulsory study of Civil Engineering Design, Transport & Mobility Systems, Structural Mechanics, and Mathematical Modelling and Analysis 1. The second year advances core knowledge via Structural Analysis and Design, Geotechnical Engineering, Surveying and Field Studies, and Mathematical Modelling and Analysis II, while offering optional breadth in subjects such as Introduction to Programming and Introduction to Environmental Engineering. The third year continues with compulsory modules including Civil Engineering Project, Sustainable Civil Engineering Design, and Structures and Materials. The final fourth year features compulsory integrated design, alongside specialist optional study in areas like Offshore and Coastal Engineering, Advanced Soil Mechanics, and Finite-Element Modelling and Numerical Methods.
