Entry requirements
A level: A*A*A (A* in either Mathematics or Further Mathematics required.) IB: 40 points (A total of 20 points in three higher level subjects including Grade 7 in Mathematics. The course will accept either ‘Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches’ or ‘Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation’ at higher level. ‘Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches’ is preferred.)
About this course
MEng in Computer Science, a computer science degree exploring algorithms, computational theory, and systems development. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Engineering Design, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. This four-year integrated degree includes options for a year in industry and study abroad. The first year covers foundations through Introductory Computer Science Mathematics, Algorithms and Theory of Computation, Programming and Software Development, and Programming Language Concepts. The second year builds competence with Computer Science Mathematics and Theory 1, Intelligent Data Systems, Computing Systems, and the Software Engineering Team Project alongside optional subjects such as Intelligent Systems and Connected Systems. The third year advances into complex material through Computation and Complexity, Research Methods, Group Research Project, and Emerging Technologies, alongside optional modules including Functional Programming, Computer Graphics, and Security. The final fourth year is dedicated to the Computer Science MEng Project / Dissertation and advanced optional specialisations such as Supervised Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and Statistical Natural Language Processing.
