About this course

BA in Czech and Hebrew, a Russian Studies and Hebrew and Jewish Studies degree focusing on the linguistic and cultural study of both regions. Core topics include Research Methods. Students spend the third year studying abroad to experience the societies and cultures of both languages firsthand. The first year introduces the fundamentals through Modern Hebrew Language 1, Kita Alef: Introduction to Jewish Studies, Czech Language Level 1, War, Trauma and Memory in East European Cinema, and Literature and Memory, with optional choices such as Modern Jewish History (Antisemicism, Migration, and Identity). The second year advances proficiency with Modern Hebrew Language 2, Czech Language Level 2a-Comprehension, Czech Language Level 2b-Production, Introduction to Czech Literature and Culture, and Writing from the Other Europe, alongside optional Yiddish Language 1.
