Entry requirements
A level: ABB (Previous study of a foreign language is preferred (not necessarily one of the named languages) but not required. Applicants may study two languages at beginner level and may seek advice from the departments concerned if needed.) IB: 34 points (A total of 16 points in three higher level subjects, with no higher level score below 5. Foreign language preferred.)
About this course
BA in Danish and French, a French and Francophone Studies and German degree focusing on language acquisition and cultural studies. The course includes a compulsory third year spent abroad to immerse students in the societies of both languages. The first year covers language foundations through Introduction to Danish Language and Culture, Introduction to Nordic Studies 1, Use of French 1 and The Making of Modern France. The second year progresses with Intermediate Danish Language and Culture, Use of French 2 and French Oral 2, alongside optional choices such as French Film History and The Medieval Period. The third year consists of SELCS Year Abroad Term 1 and SELCS Year Abroad Term 2. The final year involves advanced study with Advanced Danish Language and Culture, Use of French 3 and Advanced Project Work in Danish, Norwegian or Swedish, complemented by optional modules like French Existentialism: Sartre, Coffee, and Cigarettes and Legendary Histories.
