BA Dutch and Philosophy
Entry requirements
A level: ABB (Previous study of a foreign language is preferred (not necessarily one of the named languages) but not required. Applicants may study two languages at beginner level and may seek advice from the departments concerned if needed.) IB: 34 points (A total of 16 points in three higher level subjects, with no higher level score below 5. Foreign language preferred.)
About this course
BA in Dutch and Philosophy, a German and Philosophy degree exploring language, culture and philosophical traditions across four academic years. The course includes a compulsory year abroad spent studying in an immersive environment. Students complete a final-year project alongside their advanced language and philosophical studies. The first year covers foundational modules such as An Introduction to Dutch Language and Culture, Introduction to Dutch Studies 1, and Introduction to Dutch Studies 2, while offering optional philosophy modules. The second year progresses with Intermediate Dutch Language and Culture, complemented by a selection of optional literary and philosophical subjects. The third year consists of SELCS Year Abroad Term 1 and SELCS Year Abroad Term 2. The fourth year concludes the programme with Advanced Dutch Language and Culture alongside specialized optional modules and a Project in Dutch.
