Entry requirements
A level: ABB (Previous study of a foreign language is preferred (not necessarily one of the named languages) but not required. Applicants may study two languages at beginner level and may seek advice from the departments concerned if needed.) IB: 34 points (A total of 16 points in three higher level subjects, with no higher level score below 5. Foreign language preferred.)
About this course
BA in Dutch and Serbian/Croatian, a German and Russian Studies degree centred on the study of language, literature, and cultural history across two departments. Core topics include Research Methods. This four-year undergraduate programme incorporates a year abroad. The first year builds initial competencies through An Introduction to Dutch Language and Culture, Serbian and Croatian Language Level 1, and War, Trauma and Memory in East European Cinema. The second year advances linguistic and literary study via Intermediate Dutch Language and Culture, Serbian and Croatian Language Level 2a-Comprehension, and Introduction to Serbian and Croatian Literature, alongside optional choices such as Multiculturalism and Identity. The third year consists of a study abroad placement. The final year focuses on advanced proficiency through Advanced Dutch Language and Culture and Serbian and Croatian Language Level 3a - Comprehension, with optional modules including Low Countries Cinema and a Free-standing Dissertation.
