Entry requirements
A level: ABB (Previous study of a foreign language is preferred (not necessarily one of the named languages) but not required. Applicants may study two languages at beginner level and may seek advice from the departments concerned if needed.) IB: 34 points (A total of 16 points in three higher level subjects, with no higher level score below 5. Foreign language preferred.)
About this course
BA in Dutch and Ukrainian, a German and Russian Studies degree spanning linguistic and cultural traditions across two academic departments. The course includes a compulsory year abroad split across terms. Students also complete a final-year project option. The first year covers initial foundations through An Introduction to Dutch Language and Culture, Ukrainian Language Level 1, and War, Trauma and Memory in East European Cinema. The second year progresses with Intermediate Dutch Language and Culture alongside Ukrainian Language Level 2a-Comprehension, while offering optional modules such as Born out of Rebellion: The Netherlands from the Dutch Revolt to the Eve of World War I and Multiculturalism and Identity. The third year consists of SELCS Year Abroad Term 1 and Year Abroad Term 2. The fourth year concludes studies with Advanced Dutch Language and Culture, The Making of Modern Ukraine I, and Ukrainian Language Level 3a - Comprehension, with optional choices including Project in Dutch and Low Countries Cinema.
