About this course

BA in Dutch, a German degree focused on intensive language acquisition alongside cultural and historical studies. The course includes a compulsory year abroad spent studying or working in the target region. The first year covers foundational concepts through An Introduction to Dutch Language and Culture, Introduction to Dutch Studies 1, Introduction to Dutch Studies 2, and Understanding History: Facts, Interpretations, Stories. The second year progresses with Modern Dutch Literary Texts, Intermediate Dutch Language and Culture, Multiculturalism and Identity, and Born out of Rebellion: The Netherlands from the Dutch Revolt to the Eve of World War I. Following the third year abroad, the final year features Advanced Dutch Language and Culture alongside optional choices such as At the Crossroads of Europe: Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg in the 20th and 21st Centuries, The Contemporary in Dutch Literature, Project in Dutch, and Advanced Translation.
